1) A fully functioning upright or grand piano. An electronic keyboard is not the same! And believe it or not, the performer requires all 88 keys present and in good repair(!). It is embarrassing to all present when a key is missing or does not sound (and the missing note is always the most important in the melody, right?)! A damper and soft pedal is required, and again, is best if silent when depressed. If in doubt, have a qualified technician evaluate your piano before booking the performance.
2) The piano should be in tune. Please use a certified piano technician for the tuning. Tuning should be done, if possible, within a week before the performance. Please note that the temperature of the room during the tuning must be as close to the same temperature for the performance date.
3) Food and beverages should be served before or after the performance. Attendees may have food and drink at the seats with them, but no service of refreshments by servers should happen during the performance. (Invariably it is at the quietest, most dramatic point in the music when a server drops a tray of crystal cups!)
4) Requests are not taken during the performance. Your concert is a special occasion and a lot of preparation is made by the performer to make it so. Unique, complex, arrangements are carefully chosen and rehearsed for each program. However, if the occasion is special, a requested piece can be arranged at the time of booking. The result will be a wonderful concert with a unique surprise!
5) The performance is a concert, not background music for a social event. This is a very special offering for you and your guests. Make it a special occasion and unique for you! Reception background music is common, but a concert is spectacular and memorable!
6) Payment is the security for the scheduled performance. In order for the performance to be relaxed and smooth flowing for you and the performer, payment will be expected at the time of booking.
7) Cancellation policy. 48 hours' notice minimum is required for cancellation of performances. When possible, another performance date for the concert will be scheduled. Full refund will occur if a rescheduling cannot be made. If a cancellation is made within 48 hours, a refund of the fee minus a $25 handling fee will be granted. No refund will be granted for cancellations made on the day of performance.
